Big League Chew® Welcomes New Roster of College Athletes to the Team
Since the approval of the new NIL rule, Ford Gum and Big League Chew put together the first BLC Athletes program back in 2021. With a new roster of athletes for the 2022/2023 season, we’re excited to announce a collaboration with 14 new collegiate athletes and also welcome back two former BLC Athletes: Evan Sleight and Brooke Nelson.
Jaxson Crull is an outfielder for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. He comes off a season playing in 56/63 games with .262 batting average. On game day, he’s always in between Groundball Grape and Outta Here Original.
Ty Dalley plays first base for Mercer University in Macon, GA. Ty joins the Bears after helping his high school team reach the sweet sixteen in 2019 and winning the Region Title in 2021. His favorite flavor on game day is Big Rally Blue Raspberry.
Robbie Marten plays defense for Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Robbie is BLC’s first signed lacrosse athlete. During his sophomore year, he was named to the MAAC-All Academic Team. When it comes to chewsing his favorite flavor, Swingin’ Sour Apple is a no-brainer.
Blake Gillespie is a pitcher for the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Blake joins the bulldogs after a successful season playing summer ball with the Atlanta Blues, giving up no runs in 13 innings. He admits his favorite flavor is Swingin’ Sour Apple.
Brayden Morrow is an infielder for Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. During his sophomore season, Brayden finished with a .196 batting average and a .239 slugging percentage. If he had to pick his favorite BLC flavor for game-day, it would be Slammin’ Strawberry.
Noah Soles is an outfielder for North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Noah completed his sophomore year finishing third on the team with a .321 batting average, tallying 54 hits, including 11 doubles, four homers, and 28 RBIs. His go-to flavor of BLC is Groundball Grape.
Alec Sanchez is an outfielder for Florida International University in Miami, FL. During his 2022 season, he hit a .275 batting average with 10 homeruns, while also finishing in the top 25 in the country with 5 triples. His go to flavor has got to be Curveball Cotton Candy.
Jack Goodman is a short stop for Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. In 2022, Jack was drafted by the Texas Rangers, but decided to pursue his career playing Division I baseball. When it comes time to hitting the field, he must have a pouch of Groundball Grape.
Ansley Houston is an infielder for Clemson University in Clemson, SC. During the 2022 season, she scored 10 runs, including one run in the ACC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals against Notre Dame. When asked her favorite flavor, Ansley admits she can’t live without Slammin’ Strawberry.
Emily Phillips is a catcher for McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. Emily recently transferred from JMU and was a part of the 2021 team that advanced to the College World Series. Coming off of her 2022 season, she had 10 home runs, 22 runs scored, and 28 RBIs. Her favorite flavor of BLC is a toss up between Swingin’ Sour Apple and Groundball Grape.
Reagen London is a catcher for Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Prior to Cornell, Reagen was named First Team All-Region in 2017-2020! Her favorite flavor of BLC is Wild Pitch Watermelon.
Lindsay Lopez is a pitcher for the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Lindsay joins the Huskies after being named to the First Team All-Pac-12 in 2022 while playing for the Arizona State softball team. In 2021, she earned Third Team All-Conference and All-Freshman team honors. Her go-to flavor is Swingin’ Sour Apple.
Emma Antich is an infielder for Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She started in 32 games as a freshman which earned her a consistent spot as second base and in the team’s lineup.
Jayden (JJ) Smith is a catcher/1B for Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. During her freshman season, she was voted as a unanimous choice for the Big 12 Conference All-Freshman team after batting .319 over 35 games with 11 extra-base hits and 13 RBIs. During game-day, she can’t live without shreds of Outta Here Original.
Evan Sleight is an outfielder for Rutgers University in New Jersey. Sleight says he was chewing Ground Ball Grape in his first collegiate hit, which was a grand slam. He admits his favorite flavor is a toss-up between Outta’ Here Original and Ground Ball Grape.
Brooke Nelson is a pitcher for the University of Washington in Seattle. During her time with the Huskies, Brooke was named as a PAC-12 Academic All-American and became a Voice in Sport PAC-12 representative. When it comes to her favorite flavor of BLC, she’s stuck between Outta’ Here Original, Slammin’ Strawberry, and Curveball Cotton Candy.
All sixteen athletes were hand chosen to represent the Big League Chew brand during the 2022-2023 season. We’re excited to welcome them to the team and watch their success as the school year progresses and they reach for those Big League dreams.
